Camberwell High School has a capped enrolment at 1200 students, and the demand for placement regularly exceeds places available.
The Department of Education and Training (DET) has determined the enrolment priorities for all government schools. Camberwell High School adheres to these priorities and placement will be according to the following:
- Students for whom Camberwell High School is the nearest neighbourhood school.
- Students who reside permanently at the same address as a brother or sister attending the school.
- Where the regional director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest the school.
- Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds.
- Students in order of closeness of their home to the school.

Year 7 Applications
All Year 7 applications are handled through the student’s Primary School. Applications can be made in Year 6. Applications forms for Year 7 enrolment are distributed to Year 6 students in April by their Primary Schools. Applications are returned to the Primary School by mid-May at which time the primary school informs the secondary school of applicants to their school. The Secondary School then notifies the Primary Schools of successful applicants and in early August the primary schools notify parents of offers from the Secondary Schools.
For the Year 6 to Year 7 transition timeline please see : Application Timeline Process
Years 8-12 Applications
Only a few places become available for students who wish to enrol in Years 8-12 at the beginning of the school year. Applicants are encouraged to complete an Application for Enrolment Form and contact the school for more information.
Applications for current-year enrolment will be handled at the time of application.
Applications for the following year will be considered during Term 4 (November-December) and families will be informed before the end of the current school year.
All applicants for Years 8-12 must adhere to DET Priorities and are often restricted to students who live within the official neighbourhood.
